I upgraded from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Home Premium last week. And even though most of my original programs and files need to be reinstalled (I did a clean “custom” install), the upgrade was absolutely worth it. Windows 7 is way more stable and and is just a more solid Operation System. The Windows Themes look jaw-droppingly beautiful and my computer (Dell XPS M1530) starts and shuts down at least 3x faster than before. I’m so glad that I made the switch as it’ll save me so much time and headache in the long run. One thought that keeps coming back to me is that: Why in the world did Microsoft release an incomplete OS such as Vista and why didn’t we get the 7 instead to begin with? I have yet to see how my new OS will stand the test of time. And I may come back and update my review in a few months or so, but for now, I’m extremely happy and satisfied. May the happiness continue. Amen!
Upgraded from Vista Home Premium 64 bit to the same in Windows 7 – no problems!
After 9 years of using XP Professional, upgraded to Windows 7. My observations:
- MP3′s sound much better with fuller sound, better separation and more range
- Brighter, crisper colors on display
- A great combination task/quick launch bar which looks like Apples
- At least as fast as XP, and after a week, I have had no problems except sleep does not work on my computer
I cannot see 9 years of Microsoft development (XP to now) in this system, but a nice change; probably not worth the money you will be paying for it.
I worked with Microsoft on many Vista issues and finally just went with this operating system and have been alot happier. Still in the early stages but should have can Vista a lot sooner.
I planned on upgrading a PC that was running XP Professional but when I discovered the expense of upgrading the hardware and all the requirements of a “clean install” I decided it wasn’t worth it. I returned the upgrade. If you place any value on your own time it is far cheaper to buy a new PC.
